Have you ever found yourself in a position of playing small? This happens when we shrink ourselves and our light just so others can be more comfortable around us or maybe related to us in a deeper level. Another reason why we might play small, without realizing it, could be that we don't want others to be jealous or believe we are living from ego. Sometimes we even feel like if we allow ourselves to shine we might be falling into an ego based mentality. These are completely different paths.
You are playing small if...
1. If your friends constantly complain about their lives and as a result you feel uncomfortable sharing your success with them. Maybe you feel that if you share the things you are so grateful for, you will be judged instead of celebrated.
2. If you find yourself very uncomfortable while receiving compliments and answer back with some kind of excuse for your success.
3. If you feel like you have a powerful message but refrain from sharing it publicly or taking a stance for it because you fear being judged.
4. If you feel an irrational resistance to anyone who is getting out there and shining bright, specially from your close circle.
The truth is that we all come into this planet with gifts and beautiful traits that makes us unique but we get scared of sharing them. All of us have experienced moments in which we are being judged by others or criticized, nobody likes it. These moments create fear in us and they prevent us from feeling comfortable just being ourselves.
Feeling exposed seems like a nightmare to so much people because they feel it´s the perfect opportunity to be judged in a negative way. I was so afraid of this myself. For years I hated speaking in public, sharing my mind on social media or anything related to being exposed for others to see. After a while, I realized the only way I could truly have a positive impact in the world around me was by getting out there. People are so much nicer than we give them credit for, I have received infinite positive responses and feel now more confident, supported and celebrated by others.
Why it´s your responsibility to shine.
When you allow yourself to shine, you give permission for others to do the same. When you tap into your authenticity you are empowering everyone who doesn't feel good enough to be themselves. When you succeed you give others the gift of a good example for guidance. Know that your life will improve, your relationship to yourself and others will improve when you allow yourself to see the beauty within yourself. Before you know it, the people who you were afraid to disappoint before will come to you for advice. You will find your mission and see how, just by sharing the lessons you learn, you will help so much people around you. Spread the love! Share yourself, many will benefit from your unique expression and beauty.
We all have a unique perspective, we have an obligation to share whatever we learn & experience with others so they can all benefit.
